My experience in the Storytelling

 “The show will start in five minutes,” I said while laughing and putting up the decorations to create the setting for a part of the story. I felt like a theater actor and the performance was about to start!!!

     I would describe my experience participating in the Storytelling as a different, fun, and interesting experience. First of all, I think it was a different experience because through the activity I got out of my daily routine and out of my comfort zone. Even though I had already participated in some storytelling performances at school, it was something I was not used to doing. However, as my mom told me "Sometimes it's good to get out of the routine and do something different." The truth is that participating in this activity helped me to de-stress and forget for a while the worries of final exams and academic work at the end of the semester. So, I enjoyed doing something different that involved creativity and ingenuity.

     Secondly, I definitely had a lot of fun planning and producing the story. Although we couldn't get together to record the story, it was quite entertaining to record it at my house since I had to look for different elements to create the scenery, arrange the space I was going to use, and look for the costume I was going to wear. Then, when recording, I tried to do (as best I could) the gestures, expressions, and movements that were mentioned in the story and although I don't think I will win the award for best actor of the year haha, at the end of the day, I had several fun moments during the process. For example, moments in which I forgot things, in which the wind moved the decoration, and in which my dogs and cats crossed in the scene and I had to cut and re-record the scene. So even if I had technical problems haha, I would like to repeat this experience without any doubt.

     Finally, the activity was quite interesting because most of the things that had to be done like rehearsing, practicing, creating the background, and dressing up as the character of the story aroused my attention and interest so I think that when we have all those elements we end up getting more involved. Also, because we had to edit a part of the story, I learned how to use an edition program (in a basic way of course) and I would say that it was also quite interesting to discover the effects, tools, and transitions in the program.

     In conclusion, it was a super cool experience, in which I could get out of the routine, laughed several times and learned new things. Thank you very much for giving us this experience in which we let our creativity fly, and in which we had very good moments. I will remember it in the future, thank you.♡

Writing is a process

In this blog entry, I will share my personal experience in the creation and narration of the original short story.  When we were assigned this activity, the first thought that came to my mind was “Hmm create a short story, no problem we just have to write words on a document and that’s it”, but at the moment of taking action and starting to write. Something unexpected happened. No ideas came to my mind, no memories, no personal experience that I could draw inspiration from; my mind looked like a blank canvas and I was there like a disillusioned painter. I felt a bit sad, but then I realized that I was thinking too much about trying to write the right words or the perfect idea instead of just free writing like one girl in my group was doing. So I tried to do that in some parts of the story and I think it was a good idea because even though I wasn’t the most inspired person in the world, I was writing some random words that slowly turned into sentences and then paragraphs.

One thing that helped me write was to reread what we had in the story and try to create the scene in my mind with the setting and the characters. Then, I tried to imagine what the characters would do or what would happen next. I did the same thing when I wanted to better describe a place in the story. I hope that as you read our short story (the true love book) you will also imagine the places as we imagine them in our minds.

Overall, the process of creating the original short story was a pretty good experience even if I had some problems at the beginning, I know that it is all part of the writing process, and in the end I really enjoyed creating a story in which we used our imagination and creativity instead of just taking an exam as an evaluation. Thanks for that Miss Analía :) I definitely hope to repeat this experience in the future. 

Now talking a little bit about my experience narrating a part of the story, I would say that it was something new for me because although I had already recorded audio presentations; I had never sent a narration of a story and I consider that sending an audio of a story is different as you have to speak with more emotion and feeling instead of speaking formally and in an academic tone. From my point of view, it was an entertaining and fun experience in which I felt like I was recording an audiobook to upload to YouTube. During the process, I tried to have a good tone of voice, intonation, and pronunciation (to be honest, I had to look up the pronunciation of some words as I was not very familiar with some of them). Also, I tried to avoid audio interference or background noises although this was a little complicated to achieve as some neighbors were building, however in the end I think the audio turned out well. In conclusion, I had a really great time and I would definitely like to do it again.
